Overview
Echinacea purpurea 'PowWow White' is a compact, heavy-blooming coneflower from the PowWow series that grows 18–24 inches (45–60 cm) tall and 12–18 inches (30–45 cm) wide — roughly half the height of the standard species. Pure white overlapping ray florets with a large green-to-bronze central cone appear from July through September with heavy, continuous reblooming over 10+ weeks. The PowWow series was bred for first-year flowering from seed, compact habit, and heavy bloom production without requiring deadheading — though deadheading further increases flower count. 'PowWow White' received an All-America Selections award, recognizing its consistent performance from seed. The compact stature eliminates the flopping that taller coneflower selections experience in rich soil. The branching habit produces multiple flower stems per plant, resulting in more simultaneous blooms than single-stemmed species types. Dark green, rough-textured foliage. Deer avoid the foliage.
Native Range
The species Echinacea purpurea is native to eastern and central North America. 'PowWow White' is from the PowWow series, an All-America Selections winner.Suggested Uses
Used at the front and middle of borders, in containers of 3 gallons (11 liters) or more, and in mass plantings where the compact, heavy-blooming habit fills space without staking. The first-year bloom from seed allows annual-style use. Mix with 'PowWow Wild Berry' for a white-and-pink companion display. How to Identify
