Catfacing

🧑‍🌾 Cultivation●● Intermediate

Catfacing produces misshapen fruit with deep furrows, scars, and corky tissue, especially at the blossom end. It occurs when cold temperatures (below 55°F) during flowering cause incomplete pollination or uneven cell development. Large-fruited heirloom tomatoes like Brandywine and Cherokee Purple are particularly prone. Fruit is still edible despite the cosmetic damage.
