Overview
Rosa spp. 'Tiamo' is a hybrid tea rose from the Kordes breeding program in Germany, grown for cutting and garden display. It forms an erect, bushy plant 3-4 feet (90-120 cm) tall and 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) wide, with glossy dark green deciduous foliage that carries high resistance to blackspot and mildew. The flowers are fully double with a nostalgic, many-petaled form in medium red, opening singly or in small clusters on long stems and measuring 3-4 inches (8-10 cm) across. A mild fragrance accompanies each flush, and bloom repeats from early summer into autumn. Petals hold their color and form under sun and light rain better than many older red hybrid teas. The cultivar is hardy in USDA zones 5-9 and grows in most fertile garden soils with free drainage. As with other hybrid teas, the upright canes can look bare at the base, and winter protection is needed at the cold end of its range. The stems are armed with prickles that make close handling awkward. It is grown in rose beds, mixed borders, and rows for cut flowers.

Plants grow in full sun, needing at least six hours of direct light for the fullest bloom. Even, moderate watering at soil level keeps the glossy foliage dry and lowers disease risk. A fertile, slightly acidic to neutral soil of pH 6.0-7.0 with free drainage gives steady performance. Feeding in early spring and after the first flush keeps the repeat cycle going. In zones 5-6 a winter mulch over the crown reduces cold damage. Disease resistance is high, though aphids can gather on new growth in spring.Pruning
