    Vista Pruning

    🌲 Arboriculture●●● Advanced

Also known as: view pruning, selective view clearing

A pruning technique that creates or maintains a specific view or sightline through the tree canopy by selectively removing branches in targeted areas. Vista pruning differs from crown thinning in that removal is concentrated in the window area rather than distributed throughout the crown. It preserves the tree while providing the desired view.

    Etymology

Italian vista (view, sight) + English pruning

    Example

Vista pruning opened a view corridor to the lake by removing select interior branches without altering the tree's silhouette.
