Also known as: TRA, TRAQ, risk evaluation

Tree risk assessment (TRA) follows the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) methodology or similar frameworks to evaluate the likelihood that a tree or tree part will fail and the consequences if failure occurs. Assessment levels include limited visual, basic, and advanced. Factors evaluated include target assessment, tree health, structural condition, load factors, and the probability of failure, impact, and harm.

    Etymology

From Old English trēo (tree) + Latin risicum (risk) + Latin assessare (to sit beside, evaluate)

    Example

The Level 2 tree risk assessment identified the leaning trunk as a moderate risk requiring mitigation.
