stellatum
/stel-LAH-tum/🏷️ Taxonomy●● Intermediate
A floral arrangement epithet for a flower whose narrow segments spread evenly outward from the centre, so that the whole reads as a star. It describes the open, radiating outline rather than any particular colour or petal count. Appears as stellatus (masculine), stellata (feminine), or stellatum (neuter).
Example
“Maianthemum stellatum (star-flowered false Solomon's seal) shows the neuter form, its small white flowers opening as flat, even-rayed stars.”
