Spathe
🌸 Flower Parts●● Intermediate
A spathe is a single large bract, often leaf-like or petal-like, that encloses or sits beneath a flower cluster. It is most familiar as the showy hood surrounding the fleshy flowering spike (spadix) of arums such as calla lily and jack-in-the-pulpit, but similar sheathing bracts occur in palms and many other plants.
