    Semi-double

    /seh-mee-DUH-bul/
    🌸 Flower Parts●● Intermediate

A flower form intermediate between single and double. Semi-double flowers typically have two to three times the normal petal count, with some stamens still visible at the centre. They offer a fuller appearance than singles while still providing pollen and nectar access to pollinators — a useful compromise between ornamental impact and ecological value.

    Etymology

Latin semi- (half) + double, from Latin duplus (twofold)

    Example

Rosa 'Ballerina' produces clusters of semi-double pink flowers with a white eye throughout summer.
