The death of plant cells or tissue, visible as brown, black, or dried areas on leaves, stems, or roots. Necrosis can result from disease, nutrient deficiency, chemical damage, frost, or drought stress.
Etymology
From Greek nekrosis, meaning "death, dying," from nekros (dead body).
