    Also known as: yellowing

    A condition in which plant leaves turn yellow due to a lack of chlorophyll. Common causes include nutrient deficiencies (especially iron, manganese, or nitrogen), poor drainage, root damage, high soil pH, and certain diseases.

    Etymology

    From Greek chloros (green) + -osis (condition).

    Example

    Iron chlorosis causes leaves to turn yellow between the veins while the veins remain green.
