A floral anatomy epithet indicating all stamens are fused by their filaments into a single column — the monadelphous condition characteristic of the mallow family. Appears as monadelphus (masculine), monadelpha (feminine), or monadelphum (neuter).

Etymology

From Greek monos (one) + adelphos (brother), meaning all stamens in one brotherhood.

Example

Hibiscus and all Malvaceae have the characteristic monadelphous stamen column — filaments fused into a single tube from which the anthers emerge.
