    Also known as: diadelpha, diadelphum

    A floral anatomy epithet indicating the stamens are arranged in two groups — the diadelphous condition of the pea family where nine stamens are fused and one remains free. Appears as diadelphus (masculine), diadelpha (feminine), or diadelphum (neuter).

    Etymology

    From Greek di- (two) + adelphos (brother), meaning stamens in two brotherhoods.

    Vicia, Lathyrus, and virtually all pea-subfamily members have the characteristic 9+1 diadelphous arrangement — one of the key family identification features.
