    Also known as: globosa, globosum

A form epithet describing plants, fruits, flower heads, or overall plant habits that are notably spherical or globe-shaped. It is one of the most satisfying of all epithets for describing perfectly round forms in nature. Appears as globosus (masculine), globosa (feminine), or globosum (neuter).

    Etymology

From Latin globosus, meaning "spherical" or "globe-shaped," from globus (a sphere, ball, globe).

    Example

Thuja occidentalis 'Globosa' forms a perfect sphere without any pruning, and Echinops ritro, the globe thistle, bears the characteristic spherical flower heads this epithet so aptly describes.
