Fusarium Wilt

🦠 Diseases●● Intermediate

Fusarium oxysporum enters roots and produces toxins that clog xylem vessels. Unlike Verticillium, it prefers warm soils (80°F+) and often causes wilting on one side of the plant first. Different formae speciales attack specific crops: f. sp. lycopersici targets tomatoes, with Races 1, 2, and 3 requiring different resistance genes. Cultivar resistance codes show "F," "FF," or "FFF" for races overcome.
