    🦠 Diseases Basic

Fungicides range from organic copper and sulfur formulations to synthetic systemic products. Copper-based fungicides (Bordeaux mixture) have been used since the 1880s and remain effective against many bacterial and fungal diseases. Most fungicides are preventive, not curative—they must be applied before infection occurs. Neem oil and Bacillus subtilis-based products offer organic alternatives for home gardens.

    Etymology

Latin fungus + -cide (to kill)
