    Determinate plants stop growing taller once the terminal bud forms flowers. In tomatoes, this means the plant sets most fruit within a 2–3 week window, making determinates ideal for canning and processing. Bush beans and many container-bred varieties are determinate. They require less staking and pruning than indeterminate types.
