    Caespitose

    🌱 Growth Habits●●● Advanced

Describes a plant, especially a grass or sedge, whose shoots crowd together on a short compact crown to build a single dense tuft or tussock that thickens outward year by year. A caespitose plant does not travel by long creeping rhizomes or stolons, so the clump widens slowly in place rather than colonising the ground around it. Also spelled cespitose.
