Dehiscent
🌸 Flower Parts●●● Advanced
Of a fruit or anther, dehiscent means splitting open along one or more definite lines or seams when ripe, so that the seeds or pollen are shed. The opposite condition, staying closed at maturity, is indehiscent.
Example
“A dehiscent pod splits along its seams when ripe, letting the seeds fall free.”
