    A floral arrangement epithet describing flowers borne in a spike, a dense elongated cluster in which each flower sits directly on the main axis without its own stalk, and the feminine form used where the genus is feminine. Appears as spicatus (masculine), spicata (feminine), or spicatum (neuter).

    Etymology

    From Latin spicatus, meaning "provided with spikes," from spica (a spike or ear of grain).
