Sap

Sap is the fluid that moves through a plant's vascular system: xylem sap carries water and dissolved minerals up from the roots, while phloem sap carries sugars made in the leaves to the rest of the plant. It is distinct from latex, a separate milky fluid held under pressure in some plant families.
