    pinnatum

    /pin-NAH-tum/
    🏷️ Taxonomy●● Intermediate

A leaf shape epithet for a compound leaf whose leaflets are ranged in two rows along a common stalk, feather-fashion. Each leaflet is a discrete blade, which is what distinguishes the arrangement from a merely deeply cut simple leaf. Appears as pinnatus (masculine), pinnata (feminine), or pinnatum (neuter).

    Example

“Epimedium pinnatum ssp. colchicum carries the epithet in its neuter form, its leaves divided into paired leaflets ranged along a central stalk.”
