    A compound leaf arrangement where leaflets are arranged along both sides of a central rachis, resembling the structure of a feather. Can be even-pinnate (ending in a pair) or odd-pinnate (ending in a single terminal leaflet).

    Etymology

    From Latin pinnatus, meaning "feathered," from pinna (feather).

    Ash trees have pinnate leaves with 5-9 paired leaflets along each rachis.
