Phenotype

FEE-noh-type
🏷️ Taxonomy●● Intermediate

The phenotype is what you can actually see and measure: height, leaf shape, fruit color, disease susceptibility. It results from genotype expressed through environmental conditions. Cherokee Purple tomato's distinctive dusky color is a phenotypic expression of chlorophyll retention interacting with lycopene and beta-carotene pigments—a trait visible only when the genotype encounters the right conditions.
