A geographic epithet placing a plant in Oregon and the wider Pacific Northwest, a region of wet winters and dry summers where conifer forest gives way to open ground inland. In print it is easily mistaken for origanum, the marjoram genus, though the two words are unconnected. Appears as oreganus (masculine), oregana (feminine), or oreganum (neuter).

From Oregon, in the north-western United States.
