A geographic epithet placing a plant on the Kamchatka Peninsula in far eastern Russia, a cold maritime region of volcanic ground and short summers. Plants collected there are dependably hardy, and many are low, compact and quick into flower once the ground thaws. Appears as kamtschaticus (masculine), kamtschatica (feminine), or kamtschaticum (neuter).
Etymology
From Kamchatka, the peninsula of far eastern Russia.
