Equitant
🔬 Anatomy●●● Advanced
Equitant describes leaves folded along the midline that clasp or straddle the leaf inside them. The blades overlap edgewise in a single flat plane, so the fan presents the same surface on both sides, as in irises and their relatives.
Example
“The flat fan of an iris shows the equitant arrangement, each folded blade straddling the one within.”
