🏷️ Taxonomy●● Intermediate

Also known as: declinata, declinatum

A morphological epithet describing a structure that curves or bends downward from the horizontal. Less abrupt than reflexus and more deliberate than nutans. Appears as declinatus (masculine), declinata (feminine), or declinatum (neuter).

Etymology

From Latin declinatus, past participle of declinare (to bend aside), from de- (down) + clinare (to bend).

Example

Iris declinata and Cyperus declinatus both have the characteristic downward-curving stems or leaves — a gentle, deliberate decline from the vertical.
