Photo rights and permissions

Photos contributed by members

The member who contributed a photo keeps its copyright. Their permission lets us display and promote Plant Reference; it does not give other people a licence to reuse the photo. A member may choose to withhold their display name from photo credit without giving up copyright.

To ask about reuse of a specific member photo, contact us with a link to the photo. We can pass on a request where possible, but only the rights holder can grant permission. Members can change their public credit preference under Settings → Privacy.

Photos from other sources

Some plant photos come from external photographers and collections. Follow the source link beside the photo to see its original credit and full licence terms. A short Creative Commons code on this site may not identify the version of that licence; do not infer reuse rights from the abbreviation alone. Plant Reference cannot grant permission for another photographer’s work.
