Also known as: paludosa, paludosum
A habitat epithet describing a plant that grows in marshy, swampy, or boggy ground — similar to palustris but with the -osus suffix emphasising fully marshy rather than merely damp conditions. Appears as paludosus (masculine), paludosa (feminine), or paludosum (neuter).
Etymology
From Latin paludosus, meaning "marshy" or "full of swamps," from palus/paludis (a swamp, marsh).
Example
“Juncus paludosus and Carex paludosa both inhabit fully waterlogged, marshy ground — true marsh specialists.”
