Obovate
🍃 Leaf Shapes●● Intermediate
Obovate describes a flat organ, usually a leaf or leaflet, that is egg-shaped in outline with the widest point above the middle. The blade is therefore broadest near the rounded tip and tapers toward the base, the reverse of ovate.
Example
“An obovate leaf is widest toward its tip and narrows gradually to the base.”
