A linear landscape feature (hedgerow, stream buffer, greenway, tree line) that connects otherwise isolated habitat patches. Corridors enable gene flow between populations, allow seasonal migration, provide escape routes during disturbance, and increase effective habitat area. Urban tree canopy often functions as habitat corridor.

Latin habitare (to dwell) + French corridor (passage)
