Euphorbia

Honors Euphorbus, the Greek physician to King Juba II of Mauretania (1st century BC – 1st century AD), who is said to have used the milky latex of a fleshy North African plant as a medicine. Juba II named the plant for his doctor, and Linnaeus later adopted the name for the genus.
