Cyanogenic

Describing tissue that stores cyanogenic glycosides, compounds that release hydrogen cyanide when cells are damaged by crushing, chewing or wilting. The reaction gives a bitter-almond smell and makes the foliage, bark and seed kernels of many stone-fruit plants toxic to people and livestock.
