A pattern epithet indicating the plant displays two clearly distinct colors — most commonly on flowers with petals of two contrasting hues, or foliage that is green above and differently colored beneath. Appears as bicolor (both genders).

Etymology

From Latin bi- (two) + color (color), meaning "two-colored."

Example

Iris bicolor and Verbascum bicolor display the characteristic two-toned coloration the epithet signals, as does Dietes bicolor with its distinctive yellow and dark-blotched white flowers.
